Maybe I was brainwashed. Before I went to Tabla, in Manhattan, and had their Goan Avocado Salad, rich with Indian spices, I just never stopped to think about how many other things you can mash up with a good avocado.
Here’s my first foray into mashed avocado sans garlic, onion, and cilantro. It’s oh-so-UN-Cinco de Mayo.
Recipe for A Different Kind of Guacamole
Recipe 123 of 365
Here’s a different avocado dip that’s quick to make. Just double or triple the recipe for a larger batch.
TIME: 5 minutes
MAKES: 2 servings
1 large ripe avocado
1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lime juice
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Mash all the ingredients together in a bowl with a fork, and serve immediately.
Making of aforementioned small bowl of guac did not require the deaths of any boys, Indian, high schools, or otherwise… 😉
